Steps to become an RCFE and ARF Administrator.
STEP 1: Register for a class listed on the calendar below.
STEP 2: Attend all classes for a certificate and pass the state exam.
STEP 3: Submit your application for renewal to the Department of Social Services.
RCFE and ARF Administrator Qualifications
To become a Certified RCFE and ARF Administrator you must meet the qualifications outlined in regulation 87405. This includes being at least 21 years of age; having a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent; and having the knowledge and ability to meet regulatory requirements and provide care and supervision. Administrators in communities of more than 15 residents must meet additional education requirements.
2026 RCFE Course Dates
This 80-hour Initial Administrator Certification for the Residential Care for the Elderly Course requires you to complete 20 hours of self-paced online training videos that will be emailed to you, along with the following 15 livestream classes, which totals the required 80 hours. You must attend each class and be in FULL camera view to get credit for attendance. All attendees start and end on the same dates and times.
